Hosea’s Feed the Hungry is a year round organization that helps Atlanta’s hungry and homeless, with food boxes, rent and utility assistance, case management and much more.

  • Tuesday, November 25 - Thanksgiving Dinner Setup - Georgia World Congress Center Building B
  • Wednesday, November 26 - Thanksgiving Dinner Preparation – DeKalb County Jail
  • Thursday, November 27 - Thanksgiving Day Dinner - Georgia World Congress Center Building B
  • Wednesday, December 24 - Christmas Dinner Preparation – DeKalb County Jail
  • Thursday, December 25 - Christmas Day Dinner

Nearly 10,000 homeless individuals and working families that are less fortunate will enjoy a hot meal, receive hair cuts for the men and hair care for the women, in addition to new clothing and warm blankets. Donations of toiletry items are still needed and can be delivered to the Hosea Feed The Hungry and Homeless Distribution Center, 1035 Donnelly Avenue in Atlanta.

  • Emergency distribution of nutritious food to over 6,000 poor children and families.
  • Monthly distribution of food to 600 homeless living outdoors in camps
  • Sunday morning brunch and counseling services in downtown Atlanta
  • 22,000 hot meals delivered to senior citizens homes annually
  • Quarterly distribution of food and supplies to over 20 organizations throughout Georgia
  • Presented the chronically homeless of Atlanta with four major meal service events, serving over 60,000 hot meals. Also, provided additional services such as, medical assistance, legal aid, clothing and toiletry items, hot showers, barber and beautician services and transportation out of Atlanta to their hometowns for holiday visits.
  • Visited the streets on 54 occasions delivering food, vitamins, candles, batteries, blankets, socks, hats and gloves
  • Provide meals and services to 37 senior high-rises
  • Expedite food and medical supplies to Haiti relief efforts
  • Sandwich distribution to bus stations and hospitals
  • Deliver regular food boxes to 10,000 persons annually
  • Formed participants with the Latin American Association and the Korean Association to feed 3,500 people annually.
  • Provide meals and activities to numerous senior high rises on a semi-monthly basis

Event Name: Produce Marketing Association International Convention & Expo

 

Event Date: Monday, October 17th

Volunteer Shift Times:  Shift 1: 12:30pm – 4:30pm & Shift 2: 3:30pm – 7:30pm (Shift times are tentative. Actual shift times may vary based on show schedule updates.)

Volunteer Role:Volunteers (approx. 275 volunteers per shift) will collect and pack product that remains on the expo floor at the close of the event.  The purpose of collecting and packing this product is two-fold: 1) to recover fresh food for people in need and prevent waste and 2) to package product in a format that facilitates distribution to ACFB’s partner agencies on October 18th.  Staff will be on site to orient and support volunteers during the work shift. Volunteers will need to be able to be on their feet for the entire shift. Medium to heavy lifting required.

Volunteer Perks: Enjoy rolling up your sleeves and working hard to help ACFB distribute hundreds of thousands of pounds of fresh nutritious food to organizations who serve those in most need in our community.  Snacks and drinks will be provided for volunteers during their shift.
